April 15, 2016

Our first very warm weekend of the year called for a bird walk in Rocky River Reservation, and we had some excellent sightings!

Not a great shot, but here's a female Brown-headed Cowbird

One of the first signs of spring!

Lots of frogs around!

Lots of Red-winged Blackbirds all over the reservation

While on our way back to the car, we came across this guy! A North American beaver!

He was just looking for a snack!

A red-bellied woodpecker

Hard to see, but two song sparrows

A red-winged blackbird, calling to the others in the area

Believe it or not, all of these birds are turkey vultures!

Just look at all those turkey vultures

A hairy woodpecker!

Late March 2016

We've been busy lately, but we have plenty of pictures from late March. Enjoy!
A Canada Goose in the foreground, and a Pied-billed Grebe in the background.

A better shot of the Grebe.

A male mallard

A song sparrow

A squirrel soaking up some sun in the chilly spring cold.

Our first view of a Red-winged Blackbird for the year!

A beautiful view of the Rocky River

We took a trip to the Brecksville Reservation, which sits right on the border of Cuyahoga and Summit Counties
